Summary: The follow-up to Parlor Tricks. Jared takes Jensen up on his dinner offer and wonders if he did something incredibly stupid.

Jared sat at the table, leg bouncing up and down as he tried to calm his thoughts. So far, he was pretty unsuccessful, muttering “this is crazy” over and over again as his eyes darted around the restaurant. What was he doing here? Meeting a client. Just any client? No, a client that he jerked off at the massage parlor. Jared could feel his stomach twisting itself up in knots. Not only did he do something that could cost him his job, but now he was trying to make a relationship out of it.

Stupid, Jared thought. Finger-fucking a guy you just met while at work didn’t usually lead to relationship material. Jensen probably wasn’t even interested in him, not really. This was probably all about sex, as nice as Jensen had seemed. And if this went badly, what would stop Jensen from telling his superiors what had happened and getting him fired? Stupid. Why had he even taken a risk like this? Plenty of men who came in were hot, by Jared’s standards, but he’d never crossed the line. Why had he done so for Jensen? God, Padalecki, you really fucked up this time.

Jared jolted, knee hitting the bottom of the table. He bit his lip and ignored the pain as he watched Jensen sit down across from him. “Hey,” he said, returning the smile Jensen gave him.

“I hope you weren’t waiting too long?” Jared opened his mouth to answer, but the waiter appeared at their table. Jensen asked Jared’s opinion on a bottle of wine, and Jared just nodded, the waiter moving away to get it for them. “I promise I’m not a lush,” Jensen said, smirking, then eyed Jared with concern. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” Jared answered, but it was rushed, shaky, and Jensen raised an eyebrow. “Sorry, I’m...I’m just nervous.” He laughed and shrugged, trying to make it less of a big deal, but his heart was still pounding.

“Oh.” Jensen seemed surprised, which made sense. After all, Jared had been bold enough to give him a handjob on the massage table. He smiled softly, and Jared felt himself start to relax. “I guess first dates can be like that, huh?” Jensen leaned forward a bit, licking his lips and lowering his voice. “ pressure, alright? I think we both did something we don’t usually do the other day.” His cheeks reddened, and Jared breathed a little easier, hoping he could trust in how genuine Jensen seemed at the moment. “I know what I said when I called you, but this can just be dinner.”

The waiter reappeared, interrupting the moment with the bottle of wine Jensen had ordered for them. Jensen poured it for them after they’d ordered their meals, and Jared took note of the slight tremble in Jensen’s hand. They fell into conversation, Jensen asking about Jared’s job, his family, his hobbies. Jared brightened when he found out how much they actually had in common, the wine warming him from the inside out. He ate his fill, and Jensen insisted on paying for both of them, as well as giving Jared a ride home.

“You said you’d take me back to your place,” Jared commented, his brain buzzing a little as his seatbelt clicked.

“I said that,” Jensen agreed, smiling shyly. “But I also said this could just be dinner.” He cleared his throat. “You were nervous earlier, and I don’t want you to feel...obligated…uncomfortable…”

Jared thought for a moment, a little too much wine making him sluggish. “Can I see you again?” he asked, blinking at Jensen and smiling when Jensen grinned.

“I was hoping you’d want to. When?”

“Tomorrow,” Jared answered, and Jensen laughed, the corners of his eyes crinkling. Jared felt warm inside again. “I mean it. Tomorrow, maybe...maybe we stay in. I’ll cook, or we’ll order something, and we’ll just…” He trailed off and shrugged.

“Okay,” Jensen said, after a beat. “Tomorrow it is.” He started the car and pulled away from the curb, and Jared couldn’t help but be disappointed at how short the drive to his apartment seemed. “You sleep on it,” Jensen said, putting the car in park. “And if you still want to see me when you wake up in the morning, you call me.” His eyes flicked up and down Jared’s face, darkening a little when they passed over Jared’s lips. “We’ll flip a coin over my place or yours.”

Jared grinned. “Sounds good. Sounds really good.” He sighed and took his seatbelt off, hesitating before getting out of the car. “Hey...thank you. For a nice night out, I mean. And for...understanding.” He felt lame as he said it, but Jensen just shook his head and waved him off.

“Don’t thank me. I’m just trying my best to be a decent human being. It’s really nothing special.”

Jared paused for a moment more, then realized he was making it awkward. Before he could think about it too much, he quickly leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to Jensen’s lips. “I’ll call you tomorrow.” He smiled and got out of the car, barely feeling the chill in the air. His phone beeped as he made his way up to his apartment, and he opened up a new text from Jensen:

You smooth motherfucker.
