Summary: Follow up to this. Jared returns home.

The warmth of the cab was welcoming, Jared and Misha shivering as their bodies thawed. The ride felt long, Jared wondering how he’d even managed to wander so far on his own, numb to everything. When it finally stopped, Misha reached for the wallet he’d thankfully had in his back pocket to pay the driver.

“I’ll pay you back,” Jared said after they’d stepped out, the cab pulling away and leaving them on the curb across the street from his home with Jensen.

Misha waved him off and started walking. “Don’t worry about it.”

“No, Misha, I will.” Jared reached out and stopped him. “It’s the least I can do.” Misha looked back at him and nodded, beginning to shiver again from the cold, and Jared hugged him again. “Are you okay? I mean, really?”

“Yeah.” Misha nodded against him before pulling away and smiling. “I’ll be fine, I promise. I just need to get you home and then rest.”

Jared looked up at the house as they walked towards it. He wondered what he would do, what he would say, what Jensen would say. But he was far too happy to be back and alive to worry about it and let it keep him from walking through the door, Misha leading.

“I found him!” Misha called out as he stepped aside to let Jared through. Jared’s eyes immediately zeroed in on Jensen, still sitting on one of the many boxes in the house, his distraught expression tugging at Jared’s heart. Upon hearing Misha’s voice, Jensen’s head shot up. His eyes went wide when they met Jared’s, tension visibly leaving his body as he jumped to his feet and rushed over to Jared, hands cupping Jared’s face.

“Where have you been?” Jensen asked, his voice wavering as he looked up at Jared with watery eyes. “Are you okay? Jesus, you’re freezing.” His hands move over Jared’s face, neck, and hands, his concern ratcheting up as he felt the cold on Jared’s skin.

“It’s okay,” Jared reassured him, catching Jensen’s hands in his own to stop their frantic motions. “I’m okay. It’s not as bad as it was, and I’m fine. Really.” Jensen just stared back at him, mouth opening, words catching in his throat. Jared swallowed and reached a hand up to cup Jensen’s neck, thumb rubbing over Jensen’s jawline. “I’m sorry I made you worry. I’m sorry that we fought. I’m just...I’m sorry.” He stopped, a lump growing in his throat, and closed his eyes, wishing he could erase the pain in Jensen’s expression.

I’m sorry,” Jensen said, squeezing the hand Jared still had wrapped up in his. Jared opened his eyes again, facing Jensen’s guilt. “For everything. I didn’t mean what I said. Not the way you think. I-”

“I know,” Jared interrupted. “I know what you meant, and it’s okay. I mean, I...I love you, too.” He rested his forehead against Jensen’s for a moment before finally pulling Jensen in for a kiss. It was soft and chaste, but it warmed Jared from the inside out. Jensen hugged him and held him close after, and Jared was more thankful for everything than he’d ever been in his life.

“I’m so glad you’re back safe,” Jensen said, pulling back and giving Jared a smile through his still-heightened emotions. He turned to Misha, then, hugging him, too. “Thank you. Thank you for bringing him home.”

Jared had almost forgotten that other people were there. He looked around the room, lips parting and eyes misting over as he took them all in. He’d seen what the angel had showed him, and he knew there’d been some people with Jensen. But this wasn’t just some people. Their friends were here, as they had been for a sort of last hurrah in this place they’d called home for so long. The event was more morose than a party, everyone’s moods reflecting his and Jensen’s. They’d thought it would help, that it would pick them up, and while it was nice to see everyone, it hadn’t worked quite as well as they’d thought it would.

But there were more people here, all part of what they’d called the Supernatural Family, cast and crew. People Jared loved and missed, but had their own busy lives now that the show was over and they’d moved on to others. Yet, somehow, they’d all made it here, now, to make sure he was safe.

“Where did you go? How did you find him?” Jensen was asking Misha, and Jared turned back to the two of them.

“I’ll let Jared tell you later,” Misha said, glancing at Jared before smiling back at Jensen. “I’m just happy to have him back.” Jensen turned to Jared, and Jared sighed, taking Jensen’s hand again.

“I will tell you later,” he promised, though he knew he’d leave out the part about Misha’s possession. “But right now…” He looked back at the house full of people, squeezing Jensen’s hand. “Right now, I think we need to celebrate.” He smiled at Jensen before turning back to his friends, his adopted family. “I, uh...I can’t thank y’all enough for being here. I honestly wasn’t expecting this.”

“We all came as soon as we could,” Jason said, smiling at him, everyone nodding or murmuring their agreement.

“As soon as Jensen told us you went missing, we all just wanted to help you bring you home,” Brad said, moving forward to clap Jared on the shoulder. “You’ve done enough for us over the years. You’re still family.”

“Everyone here cares about you, Jared,” Danneel added, coming up and giving him a quick squeeze. “We all need you to be safe.”

“I kinda panicked.” Jensen sounded embarrassed, and Jared turned to see a slight flush on his cheeks. “I knew I screwed up, and you were gone, and then you were gone for too long…”

Jared kissed him again, grinning ear-to-ear now, heart pounding in his chest. “Let’s celebrate!” He looked around, at the people and at the boxes, and immediately moved towards a carefully packed box of wine, champagne, bottles he and Jensen had been saving for a special occasion. He opened it and pulled out a bottle, holding it up and smiling at Jensen. “Let’s find some glasses!”

That night was the night that he and Jensen had originally wanted, drinks and laughs flowing throughout the house, a true farewell. It didn’t matter that most of the house was packed up. It didn’t matter how this had all started. They had fun, enjoyed each other’s company, and partied like it was their last night on earth. Jared knew that, for him, it almost had been, but he didn’t dwell on the thought. Instead, he dwelled on the love and happiness in the room. And when it was all over, some people gone home and others passed out in various places in the house, Jared sat on the floor of his empty bedroom, watching Jensen blow up an air mattress.

“You remember when you first moved in with me, and you slept on one of these for so long before I convinced you to just get a real bed and stay?”

Jensen looked over his shoulder and smiled at him. “Of course I do. That’s when it all started.”

Jared laughed, leaning his head back against the wall. He was warm, happy, and a bit drunk, Jensen eventually coming over to take his head and lead him to the inflated bed. “God, moving in the morning is gonna suck,” he moaned lying down next to Jensen, their legs tangled.

“Mmm,” Jensen agreed, eyes already closed. “But this was totally worth it.” He snuggled closer to Jared, head bumping up under Jared’s chin. “I’d offer sex, but I’m not fucking on an air mattress with a bunch of our closest friends scattered around the house.”

“‘Specially not with how loud you get,” Jared drawled, playfully pinching Jensen’s side.

Jensen smacked Jared’s hand away and sighed. “Thanks for coming back.”

Wrapping his arms around Jensen, Jared closed his eyes, too. “Thanks for always being here.”
