Warnings: Jared's kind of angsty. And jealous. TBH, when I wrote this, jealous!Jared kind of made me giggle a little. Even though he's angsty.
Disclaimer: I only know that this really happened because the voices in my head told me that it did.
Synopsis: Jared is jealous that Jensen has a guitar hero of his own.
Notes: Follow-up to Guitar Hero. People wanted one, and I couldn't refuse! :) This one isn't as happy, cheesy, and comforting as the last one, but there's more coming, and everything gets happy again. And, for anybody that cares, I got bored and put up a master post for Forty-Three Days.

It wasn’t until Steve came over and crashed at their place one weekend that Jared realized he had a problem. Steve had his guitar with him. Steve always had his guitar with him. Steve.

It was weird how Jared’s eyes narrowed when that thought crossed his mind. It was weird how Jensen agreeing to playing guitar with Steve one night at their house made him…angry. Jensen, of course, had encouraged Jared to join them, but Jared was reluctant to embarrass himself in front of a professional. He hung back, resisting Jensen’s pleas and frowns, and watched as Jensen and Steve played and sang together.

Jared lifted his beer to his lips, hoping that doing so would at least partially hide the look of disgust on his face. He kept his eyes focused on Jensen, who was getting really into it this time. He looked like he was having fun, and Jared didn’t doubt that he was. He was playing with someone who was established and knew how to handle a guitar. He was singing with someone who could sing just as well and was able to actually harmonize with him. Jared’s hand tightened on his beer bottle. He turned his gaze on Steve, and swore that he felt his eyes darken, only to realize that this wasn’t Supernatural, and he wasn’t really a demon.

“I’m going to bed,” he announced suddenly, a little too loudly, as he slammed his beer bottle down on the coffee table in front of him. He flushed, not having meant to show his feelings that strongly, thankful that the bottle didn’t break. “It’s late. I’ll see you guys in the morning.”

He tried not to stomp up the stairs and failed miserably, blaming it on the alcohol running through his veins. He went into his bedroom and closed the door, hearing one of the dogs run up the steps and stop outside of it, whining. Ignoring the pitiful sound, Jared skulked over to his bed and flopped down on it. He heard some muttering downstairs, and then the guitars started up again, along with the singing. It sounded good. Really good. Too good. Jared angrily kicked his shoes off hard enough that they hit the wall with a resounding thud before falling just as noisily to the floor.

It shouldn’t have bothered him. It really shouldn’t have. Jared had already been well aware that Jensen had some talented friends that he jammed with from time to time. But there was something about that night and the fact that it was their house this was happening in. It wasn’t Steve’s tradition to finish a long week of working with coming home and playing some guitar with Jensen late into the night. It was theirs. It was his and Jensen’s tradition. And if Steve thought he could just barge in and make it his, then Steve could take that guitar and shove it up his…

Jared’s thoughts stopped mid-sentence. He’d felt himself heating up with anger, and then froze, suddenly realizing what he was really feeling. He almost couldn’t even bring himself to think it, because it was so fucking stupid. But he was jealous. He was jealous. Jared groaned and smacked a hand over his face. How old was he again?

“Jared?” A tentative knock sounded on the door before it opened slightly, Jensen poking his head in. “Whoa!” The door slammed open, Harley pushing Jensen out of his way and charging into the room, front paws coming up on the bed as he licked Jared’s face. “Sorry,” Jensen apologized, smiling shyly. “Didn’t mean to let him in, too.”

“’S’okay,” Jared muttered, struggling to sit up as he pushed Harley down off of him. “What’s up?” He tried to be casual about it, but figured he’d just failed at that, too, since Jensen cocked his head and fixed him with a concerned expression.

“Are you okay?” Jensen asked, stepping further into the room. “You seem…” Jensen paused, looking for the right word, “Agitated.”

“I’m fine,” Jared lied. But what was he supposed to do?

“Really?” Jensen crossed his arms over his chest and smirked a little. “Because what you just pulled downstairs could easily be seen as a hissy fit, Jaredina.” Jared was pretty sure his eyes narrowed and his nostrils flared before he looked away, and then Jensen was sighing and sitting down next to him on the bed. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to piss you off. I’m just saying I know when something’s wrong with you, man. I mean, did I do something, or…?”

“No,” Jared mumbled, looking down at his hands. He felt like such a child. “Look, it’s no big deal. Just…go ahead and have some fun. Don’t worry about me.”

“You can still come play with us,” Jensen offered, and Jared shook his head.

“Nah, I think I’m done for the night. But thanks. And sorry for being an idiot.”

“I’m used to it, dude.” Jensen smiled and patted Jared’s knee before standing up and heading for the door, Harley following, and closing it behind him.

This time, when Jared fell asleep, it wasn’t to the sound of Jensen’s voice softly singing as he strummed his guitar. It was to the sound of two voices singing together in harmony, and two guitars playing the same song without one pause or one mistake. And the second guitar wasn’t his.
