So much fic, so little time.

Just a pointless update for the sake of updating.

Still sort of working on the western. Once again, I know where I want it to go, it's just a question of getting it there. I also keep getting more fic ideas, and I now have this list of fic to write that's kind of getting ridiculous. But I guess that's good, because I still have quite a bit of the fanfic100 table to fill in.

Also? I wasn't too sure about this, but...I think I'm gonna do NaNo again this year. Because I also got this random idea the other day that just sort of popped into my head for no reason, and just the notes I've written on it are pretty long. It's like Forty-Three Days in the sense that it's not just a basic plot idea. I've already got scenes playing out in my head and a full storyline. I already have the characters, emotions, and pretty much everything that's going to happen. Which means I can probably win NaNo again. I never thought I could do something like that until last November with Forty-Three Days. That fic just sort of took over and wrote itself. And I think this might do the same thing. It's J2 without the slash, actually. (Does anyone else use J2 to just refer to the boys in general, too? Because I do.) But I think it's gonna be pretty huge. And even though it's in my head now, and I kind of want to jump in and start writing it now, I think I'm gonna hold off until November. Good times.

And if that idea doesn't work out, I have another one that could potentially be a NaNo winner. But I'm not so sure about that one. It could end up being a long fic, but...meh. And it's also a high school/college J2 AU, which...I was surprised I even thought about it, because there are already so many of those, and I wasn't really planning on jumping on that bandwagon. But we'll see.

I guess I'm mostly just updating to post my fic status. :P How are you all doing?

Great to hear you're buzzing with ideas and, more importantly, the drive to do something about them- that's got to be good news. It always makes me smile and/or wince when interviewers ask writers, "So - where do you get your ideas?" It's *never* a problem getting ideas - I have at least ten fic ideas floating around right now, and I bet if you asked most writers they'd say the same. The problem is not getting ideas, but bringing them to fruition. I've got the Ashes sequel, another that's a sort of Southern family melodrama, an SPN gen one, three others that can capture me for a night or two as I grab down notes...

Yep, I think of J2 for the boy in a general sense.

Can I ask - I see it mentioned around the place, but what is NaNo?

Exactly! Ideas aren't hard to come by, it's getting them done that's the hard part. I have to say, I'm excited for yours! I'm sure the Ashes sequel will be amazing!

This (http://www.nanowrimo.org/) is NaNo. It's basically a contest held every year where you attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in one month (November). I did it for the first time last year with Forty-Three Days, and I really only did it because some friends talked me into it. I didn't think I'd be able to write that much, and then I got the story idea and it just took over. It's pretty fun to do, and it's a nice challenge for yourself. I know it was pretty satisfying for me to monitor my progress as I went along, and then to accomplish the goal and have the finished product. Oh, thank you for that. What a fun idea! I don't know that I would join up, purely because November is a tricky month for me (it's the end of the academic year, and that means mucho marking, grade moderating, conference presentations and so on). But it's a pity, because the idea is very appealing. I think it would be particularly good for those who procrastinate too much (*cough* me *cough*). I remember when discussing writing years ago with fellow fanfic writers, we decided that we needed to give ourselves permission to write crap - just to *write*, fill the page, no second guessing or self editing - and then go back and hack at it later, if necessary, just to get over the dreaded perfectionist non-starting phase (you know, 'Until I start writing it it's perfect in my mind'?)

That is SO hard to get over. I always have trouble just writing without doing the whole perfectionist thing from the start. But NaNo is kinda good for that. :)

I use J2 cause you use J2. I thought that's how everybody rolled in the Supernatural neighborhood.

Me? Got plenty of fic to write. You're gonna like one of my upcoming ones. Its a Dean/Castiel, but its priceless. Utterly priceless. I wrote one at some point last week, but you must've missed it....

So glad I have a day off tomorrow to plan my day off Tuesday.

Oh, it is how they roll, but mostly to refer to Jensen/Jared and not just Jensen & Jared. I use it for both, because I just think it's a good way to refer to them, even in general.

Yay! Glad to hear you've got lots to write! Ooh, I forgot, I did see that you'd written another one, but how spoilery is it? I'm being all stupid with spoilers lately, and trying to keep some element of surprise in for season five, lol.

OMG I have way too many ideas in my head to write and I need to get on it before they all die down. Except, I'm so worried about screwing them up because I think they're good stuff, so I dunno.

I'm tempted to make one of them Nano to make sure it's written, but Nano scares me. I've never done it but read other experiences throughout the process and it just seems like SO MUCH.

You won't screw them up! They'll be awesome! I do know that feeling, though. I get ideas like that sometimes where I'm like, "Ooh, this could be so amazing! ...Unless I really suck at writing it." But I'm sure it'll turn out fine!

NaNo scared me at first, too, but it turned out to be pretty fun. And, I mean, if you don't make it, you just don't make it. It's not that big of a deal, you know? I think the trick is to just do it for fun and not take it too seriously. Because there are people who really get nuts about it, and it becomes like a second job to them. But, you know, it doesn't really have to be that serious.
